The story of Chile’s 33 trapeed miners started 19 day’s ago but the real story long after the 33 trapped miners had been given up on.

When the probe came back it had a note tied to it saying “we’re fine down here in the shelter, the 33 of us” a rescue worker said. The men were working at a depth of around 700 metres at the San Jose mine, near the city of Copiapo, when the rock above them collapsed.

A television camera managed to film several of the miners at the shelter, with no shirts but looking strong who waved enthusiastically. The clip was seen by President Piñera and officials and will be shown to families and friends before putting it on the air.

On hearing the news Chileans in many cities took to the streets to celebrate, cars sounded their horns, flags were flown and in some public gatherings the national anthem was sung.

Until Sunday, there had been no word from the miners and hopes for their survival had all but faded. Several attempts to drill into the shelter had failed.

President Piñera was at the mine on Sunday when he announced the breakthrough. Brandishing the miners’ note for TV cameras he hailed the news saying:

”It will take months to get them out. It will take time, but it doesn’t matter how long it takes, to have a happy ending.“

The miners are reported to be 7 kilometres inside gold and copper mine and about 700 metres vertically underground. They have been trapped since 5 August when the main access tunnel collapsed.

Authorities said the men are in a mine shaft shelter about the size of a small apartment and have limited amounts of food. Rescuers plan to send narrow plastic tubes down the borehole with food, hydration gels and communications equipment, including cameras and microphones.

However, the chief engineer in charge of the rescue operation, Andres Sougarret, has warned that it will take at least four months and more powerful digging equipment to reach the men.

”A shaft 66 centimetres in diameter will take at least 120 days,” he said.

On Saturday relatives of the trapped men had accused the authorities of not doing enough to reach the men. One of their complaints was that officials had so far insisted on using probes to locate the miners, rather than digging tunnels through which they could be rescued.

Many of the trapped men’s relatives have been camped outside the mine since the tunnel collapse occurred. There were jubilant scenes as the news that contact had been made broke.

When the mine collapsed Piñera who was in Colombia for the taking office of President Juan Manuel Santos flew back to Chile and promised “every possible human effort” to rescue the miners.

Further landslides abort an attempt to reach the miners through ventilation ducts.

News begins to surface that the mine was not in conditions to be operated and several investigations on the issue are instructed.

After the first week Mining Minister Laurence Golborne admits that making contact with the trapped miners will take days given the complexity of the operation and a first probe drilling misses the shelter.

However on Saturday micro-cameras reveal that the collapse area reached 400 metres but not the 700 metres area where the shelter is located.

On Sunday a drill reaches 688 metres, close to the refuge and a few hours later contact is established. That’s when the miners send the piece of paper saying they are alive.

The owner of the Phoenix Suns basketball team, Robert Sarver, opposes AZ’s new immigration laws. Arizona’s Governor, Jan Brewer, released the following statement in response to Sarver’s criticism of the new law:

“What if the owners of the Suns discovered that hordes of people were sneaking into games without paying? What if they had a good idea who the gate-crashers are, but the ushers and security personnel were not allowed to ask these folks to produce their ticket stubs, thus non-paying attendees couldn’t be ejected. Furthermore, what if Suns’ ownership was expected to provide those who sneaked in with complimentary eats and drink? And what if, on those days when a gate-crasher became ill or injured, the Suns had to provide free medical care and shelter?” -Arizona Gov. Jan B

Its thing’s like this that get my goat about the NRA. The NRA Issues Gag Order to its NRA Board Members. So often over say the past 10 years the NRA has made decisions that just don’t make a lot of since to me and the NRA issuing a gag order on

Internal Senate emails confirmed by NRA Board Members are highlighting just how far the National Rifle Association has fallen.

The organization recently collaborated with the left to obtain a carve out of the DISCLOSE Act, legislation designed to silence bloggers and outside interest groups like tea party activists. This was a first amendment issue and the NRA gladly took a position and campaigned for its members to take a position on the DISCLOSE Act.

One of the NRA’s chief arguments was that it needed the carve out to be effective in its advocacy of Second Amendment issues. But here’s the problem: these internal Senate emails confirmed by NRA Board Members show that the National Rifle Association’s management team has explicitly and directly told the NRA’s board they are prohibited from testifying about second amendment issues during the Elena Kagan confirmation hearings.

That’s right: the foremost gun rights lobby in the nation is prohibiting its board from testifying in the Elena Kagan confirmation hearings about the second amendment.

The NRA did issue a statement on Friday after the internal Senate email began leaking out informing people of the gag order. The statement noted Kagan’s problematic record on guns, but that’s just smoke and mirrors. Don’t believe them when they say they are working with Senators to investigate her record. If they were really working with Senators, they would have accepted an invitation to testify on the Kagan nomination when they were invited. The NRA gag order on board members is not limited to providing testimony, but it prohibits board members from coming out against Kagan in their individual capacity.

If the NRA is really working with pro-guns Senators and Kagan is really hostile to Second Amendment rights, which she is, they will score her confirmation vote and actually make the score count this time, unlike they did on the confirmation of Sonya Sotomayor. With Sotomayor, they waited until several days after RedState began demanding a score and then, in effect, announced they’d score it and ignore it.

First they collaborated with the left to get the DISCLOSE Act through the House, now they are blocking their own from speaking out against Elena Kagan. Is this the deal the NRA cut with the left? They get a carveout and shut up their board?

NRA issues a gag order on NRA board members just doesn’t  seem like the right thing to do. If you can help explain this decision, help me out?

Montebello  High  School Students in California did a flag flip. This story was sent in by a concerned American that wonders why this does not make it to the main stream media but if the Mexican flag was disturbed in anyway they would of jumped all over it. The answer is the same as usual and does not need to be delved  into in this story. I bet no one was sent home for this. At this time I have no info one way or the other.

You  will not see this heart-stopping photo on the  front page of the NY Times, nor on the lead  story of the major news networks. The protesters  at Montebello High School took the  American flag off the school’s flag pole and  hung it upside down while putting up the Mexican  flag over it.  (*See pictures  below*)

I predict  this stunt will be the nail in the coffin  of any  guest-worker/amnesty plan on the table  in Washington . The image of the  American flag subsumed to another and turned  upside down on American soil is  already spreading on Internet forums and via  e-mail.

Pass this along to every American  citizen in your address  books and to every representative in the state  and federal government.  If you choose to remain uninvolved, do not be  amazed when you no  longer have a nation to call your own nor  anything you have worked  for left since it will be ‘redistributed’ to the  activists while you are  so peacefully staying out of the ‘fray’. Check  history, it is full of nations/empires that  disappeared when its citizens no longer held  their core beliefs and values. One person CAN  make a difference.

I notice the term Porch Monkey was in Google Hot Trends.

It struck me as a term I had not heard in many years and had hoped to keep it that way. In fairness I decided to look it up to see how the term Porch Monkey was being used.

Unless I missed something  the phrase Porch Monkey is still better left in the past and not the present or the future.
